About Sherman, IL

Sherman is a village in northern Sangamon County, just north of Springfield on historic Route 66, with about 4,700 people in 2020. It became a village in 1959 and began to grow in the 1970s, helped by its spot beside Interstate 55. The Route 66 Crossing shopping district fills its north side, and Sherman Village Park, with its pond and one-mile trail, sits to the south.
