Chatham is a village in Sangamon County, about three miles south of Springfield, spread across Chatham and Ball townships. It grew fast from the 1970s on and counted about 14,400 people in 2020. The village calls itself the place "where families grow," and the Ball-Chatham schools, including Glenwood High School, sit at its center.
